Jason Tester
I'm a strategic futurist and foresight consultant with over twenty years of experience in anticipating critical disruptions and emerging opportunities that define our future. My work is about making complex possibilities accessible and actionable, helping diverse organizations and communities adapt and excel in changing landscapes.
One of my favorite tools is speculative design, a field in which I've pioneered the development of detailed, engaging scenarios that expand our perceptions and encourage proactive thinking about the future. I strive to make long-term thinking approachable and exciting, whether I’m speaking at conferences, leading interactive workshops, or designing collaborative foresight games.
My perspectives and projects have been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, WIRED, and on MSNBC and CNN.
Previously, I worked at the Institute for the Future in Palo Alto for 10 years as researcher and research director, and I hold degrees in Interaction Design from Stanford University and from the Interaction Design Institute in Ivrea, Italy.
Based in San Francisco, I'm especially dedicated to improving the lives and futures of LGBTQ+ people here and around the world.
